Letter 367: Good Things Come in Threes
Admittedly, we all have our vices. Even the best cardiologist can sometimes be seen gorging on nasi lemak with fried chicken once in a bluemoon.
Although my biggest vice is ice-cream (and a recent obsession with the classic 2.55 bordering on the pathological), I would say that if the food is good, I would not hesitate to torment myself with sleepless nights agonising over my, uh, "expanding" role as being a more "huggable" girlfriend. After all, it is the price I have to pay for someone who pays the price(s) ;>
Botak Jones
1. U-Crazy-What?! Burger (S$14.50 with spicy fries and coleslaw; S$13 without)
Oozing raw animality and dripping salaciously with masculinity, this 3-pattied burger sure gives Brewerkz's King Brew Burger a ferocious run for its money.
But regardless of which burger you choose, your cardiologist will still be pocketing large sums of money-- more than enough to buy him his lifetime supply of nasi lemak.
(Tip: Best eaten at the Toa Payoh or Bedok outlets so that you can order your jug of Stella from the accompanying Brewski Jones ;>)
2. There really is no need to fuss over the other items that we've tried (the Thai Chicken Burger and the Cajun Chicken) once you've sunk your teeth into that carnal U-Crazy-What?! Burger.
You must be crazy to give this place a miss.
(Get a good chuckle at the witty menu here. There is also a cheeky reference to the Bald Eagle, if you are interested :>)
P.S. Cafe, Paragon
The menu changes all the time. It was on a weekend that we came here to nurse our post-shopping ravenousness, and bumped into Yogi Bear with his literary companion and a slice of key lime pie ;>
3. Key Lime Pie
Truth be told, I don't fancy pies, tarts and anything with a flaky pastry sheath. But I did see the Yogi devour this with gusto. I think he was missing Florida too much ;p
White Dog Cafe, Vivocity

1. Toasted Salmon BLT
This hearty slab of a tucker is reminiscent of the toasted foccacias in Oz. Its portion, presentation and taste are praiseworthy enough to make the Aussie in me proclaim "Jolly good!" with two thumbs-up.
2. Home-styled Nyonya chicken with acar and briyani rice.
The marriage of Peranakan and Indian flavours makes this look like a lavish wedding on a plate. Decked with shards of colour and a multitude of condiments, this is a union that will no doubt receive many blessings.

3. Key Lime Pie
White Dog Cafe, Vivocity
The ugly snapshots of the dishes on its menu don't do justice to the food. Although the grub at this scenic cafe that looks out to the harbourfront and Sentosa island may not warrant endless raving, I was surprised by the way our food was presented, more so after digging into it. It was better than I had expected.
1. Hawaiian-style grilled pork chop

2. Pear gelati with a dark chocolate center

3. Coconut gelati with a white chocolate center
4. Strawberry latte

In case you're wondering, no, I am not in Singapore, although I'm very inclined to accept a tempting proposal to head down for the weekend. But I shall try to restrain myself, for if I hadn't been killed by coronary artery disease after all these unrestrained gluttony, I would have been murdered by the people whom I've promised to catch up with this weekend T___T
