Girl in Madrid #9: The Making of a Genius

The world today doesn't make sense, so why should I paint pictures that do?

All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once they grow up.

The purpose of art is to wash the dust of daily life off our souls.

Everything you can imagine is real.

I paint objects as I think them, not as I see them.

Look for a situation in which your work will give you as much happiness as your spare time.

Who sees the human face correctly: the photographer, the mirror, or the painter?

My mother said to me, "If you are a soldier, you will become a general. If you are a monk, you will become the Pope." Instead, I was a painter, and I became Picasso.

Works of Pablo Picasso (my all-time favourite artist, bless his soul!)-- most notably his Guernica-- can be found at the Reina Sofia, Calle Santa Isabel 52. [Metro: Atocha] It also houses works by Salvador Dali and Joan Miro, amongst others.

Dusting the dust off the daily life? That sounds like a really good reason to do art. :)
